My Approach to Integrative Counselling
How We Can Work Together
Life can feel incredibly difficult and painful at times, but you don't have to face these challenges by yourself. I help you unravel the stress of life and its difficulties so that you can feel more grounded, reconnected to who you truly are and able to enjoy your life and relationships.
I provide talk therapy in Exeter and Totnes from quiet, professional practice spaces, easily accessible if you are seeking a local counsellor in Devon. I also offer flexible online sessions via secure video or via the telephone, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home, wherever you are in the UK.
A Relational and Compassionate Approach
I support others as I love to be supported myself: with warmth, grounding, patience, compassion, and authenticity. I am a relational, Integrative Counsellor, and I work alongside you. Whatever you bring is welcome and included in the naturalness of human experience.
Sometimes, we get stuck in painful or difficult patterns that keep us from living the life we want. If you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, caught in behaviours that are hard to break, or finding relationships unsatisfying and difficult, I am here to help.
In our sessions, I approach our work flexibly to meet your unique needs. Sometimes, this simply means talking through your life and experiences in a safe, supportive space.
At other times, it can be deeply healing to explore your internal world as a system of different 'parts.' Each part has a valid reason for being active in your life and an experience that wishes to be heard and valued.
Working with All Parts of You
Even if a certain impulse or behaviour seems to be the problem, working this way helps us discover the protective intent behind it so that it can be met with compassion.
This allows all aspects of yourself to be welcomed in, instead of rejected. By bringing awareness and compassion to these different parts of yourself, we allow deep healing and natural change to unfold.
Supporting Your Nervous System
Alongside our talking therapy, I am passionate about supporting your nervous system. I will gently guide you in learning how to relax, regulate, and use these calming tools in your everyday life.
For me, it's an honour to support people through the challenging experience of being human. I became a therapist because I believe that no matter what we experience, we are all precious. And with the right support, we can all flourish.
Professional Standards
I hold a BACP accredited Level 5 FdA in Integrative Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I practice in accordance with their ethical framework. This ensures that our work together is safe, confidential and focused on your wellbeing.
Taking Your First Step
Finding the right support can feel like a daunting task, but you don't have to do it by yourself.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory telephone, if you would find this helpful. It gives us the opportunity to meet each other and see if we are a good fit. It is important that you feel comfortable working with me and that I feel able to support you with whatever you hope to get from your counselling journey.
We can also discuss whether you would like to receive counselling in-person in Exeter, online or via the telephone. Whenever you feel ready, you are very welcome to contact me. You can be in touch with me by email or text, or we can arrange a free introductory telephone call.
